Newsletter - 11th November 2023

Happy weekend to you 🙂

We have a new order open this week for a short time. We’re supporting FOP Australia in selling their 2024 Fundraising Calendars for the next month leading up to Christmas. Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is one of the rarest, most disabling genetic conditions known to medicine, causing bone to form in muscles (and other soft tissue) throughout the whole body leading to ongoing and permanent restriction of movement.

It is a progressive disease and there is no cure.

We are supporting FOP Australia because, apart from it being a great cause, one of our members has a son living with FOP, so it is close to our hearts.

These 2024 wall calendars are A4 size and each month includes wildlife images taken by Jack, who is 17 years old and lives with FOP. Jack was the inaugural recipient of the Oliver Collins Education Grant in 2023, and used the grant to continue to build his photography skills. Jack travelled over 8300 kilometres through remote parts of Australia along rough dirt roads, through amazing scenery and rainforests - all the way to the most Northern point of Australia in Cape York. He was able to photograph some amazing wildlife that are showcased in this year’s calendar.

You can buy calendars through the Orders page (look for the ‘FOP Fundraiser’ link) or directly on the FOP Fundraiser page on our website.

The price includes postage and covers some of our Stripe fees. If you want to buy the calendars directly from FOP instead, you can do so on their website https://fopaustralia.org/

You can follow Jack's journey and his photography on his Facebook and Instagram pages.

Orders Permanently Open

A reminder that the following orders are always open and available for purchase:

  • Mango Fundraiser - There are some trays available in Fills! More information about the Mango Fundraiser can be found in the 2nd September Newsletter;

  • FOP Fundraiser - FOP Fundraiser - 2024 wall calendars. All funds raised go to FOP Austraila to provide support for people living with FOP, and the search for a cure. More information can be found on the FOP Fundraiser page;

  • Cheeky Monkey - Heat bags made from 100% cotton fabric and thread, with removable, washable covers. They contain corn instead of wheat, making them suitable for people with wheat allergies. You can read more about them on the product pages;

  • Olive and Bee Intimate Cream - recommended by one of our members who has been using it for a couple of years. It has uses as a moisturiser and massage oil as well as a personal lubricant. It has two ingredients - olive oil and beeswax - and is Australian made and owned by a small business. We have some tester tubes coming soon. You can read more about it on the product page;

  • There are always items available in Fills. Fills are important because they let us buy items in bulk (by the carton) so we can continue to get big discounts, but items do need to keep moving through there to keep us financially viable 🙂 So if you need anything, or want to treat yourself to something (there’s always cheese!) head over and check out Fills.
